Free Monthly Short-Story Contest  See contest rules and prizes in the link below.

Fall is a beautiful time of year: falling leaves, dropping temperatures, and pumpkin spice everything. But you know what makes it even better this year? You’re being set up on a blind date!!

That’s right, Support Indie Authors is once again looking for your short story submissions.

The plot is simple enough: you’re being set up on a blind date, only to find out it’s with a Halloween monster! Be it vampire, the grim reaper, a mummy, etc, you HAVE to go through with this blind date, no matter what happens.

So pick your monster and your genre (all genres accepted) and be sure to include a song title and artist within the work, and then pass it along to us for a chance to win one of two prizes! (From the Website)

Stories must be received by 11:59 pm on October 31, 2019

Weight and Health Update

I’ve lost another pound and some change (ounces). The thing is I haven’t worked out in several weeks. I’m staying away from sugar because let’s face it, it’s everywhere. Including ketchup, yogurt, blue cheese dressing, cocktail sauce, mustard, marinara sauce, tomato sauce, you name it there’s sugar in it. So I’m finding alternatives and even making my own when I find an easy recipe (Pinterest is love ❤️) I’m also cutting carbs like pasta, bread, and couscous. Although I do bake bread once in a while but exclude the sugar.

I now weigh 161.2 and I feel really good. I use to weigh 145 and looked even better, here are a few photos of me that I’m using for motivation. I was 139-145 in these photos.

***UPDATE*** May 18, 2020, and I now weigh 152.2 lbs.

This was about 10 years ago. I don’t want to gain this weight back so I’m not only taking my time to do it right but I’m changing bad habits to good habits that will stick long term to create a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve been doing lots of research and have found that disease begins in the gut. This may sound strange but think about it, we are what we eat, so I don’t buy food in boxes anymore.

Another thing I’m doing is eating fermented foods. But not just any food, these are my own.

Peppers

Pickles

It’s just saltwater. The purple sauerkraut is made with its own juices. I simply put salt on the cabbage and massage it in to release the liquid.

Eating fermented foods is so good for you, they are loaded with good bacteria that your gut needs.
