My Book

My book is about my people the Lumbee Indians from North Carolina. It focuses on two brothers and a taboo within the Tribe that brings about a terrifying haunting.
During the 90s and early 2000s, manufacturers were closing their plants in North Carolina and moving overseas, crippling the state. Some, including the Lumbee, turned to unconventional methods to make ends meet.
These two brothers set out to provide for their families by digging up the past, but when they dig too close to home, how many will have to die to satisfy the supernatural hunger for revenge?

Skillet Pizza

Hi everyone, sorry I have been MIA, I am working on the outline for my book for November. I am participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which is.. you guessed it, November.

NaNo-2017-Participant-Badge

I will be writing a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. I found NaNoWriMo in September of this year (2017) and have been researching as much as possible and I have discovered that October is the month you plan your novel so when you write in November you are basically telling yourself the story to get it out on paper. After winning NaNoWriMo, comes the real work, making your novel into something you can market an sell. So there will be lots of editing, and adding and cutting, and cutting, and cutting. Let’s keep in mind that I have always wanted to write a book but have done very little writing except for a few short stories on my own. (nothing officially published) I didn’t even know how to plan a novel or create an outline or layer subplots so you can imagine this has been very educational for me and I said all of that to say this, I have been busy and I am sorry I have neglected you but that will change, just please be patient.

I know I got off topic there, but I felt the need to explain myself. Anyway, during my research, I live my life. Today I was creating menus for next week and found a fabulous recipe and had to share it. If you are trying to lose weight, like I am, the keto diet may be for you. I did research on this before I got married in June this year (2017) but going on the honeymoon, moving in with my husband, and moving to a new state, I really didn’t need another thing to keep up with. But after dating 4 years, long distance, and moving in together, I am still the same weight and nothing has changed in 4 months. Now there’s nothing wrong with that, but the older you get, you have to work out just to maintain your weight, and I want to lose weight which means I have to work out even more just to lose some weight.

The Keto diet is a high-fat low carb diet and I’m starting it with my menus for next week. I’m so excited!  Skillet Pizza is at the top of my list and it is so easy I can’t believe I didn’t think of it. So I want to take this moment to thank Amy Dungan for sharing this recipe. It is mozzarella cheese melted in a pan and add your toppings, wow how easy is that!? I’ll post pictures when I make this.

New Virus Shawl

My goal was to make 3 virus shawls. This is the second one I made, one for each of the three girls at the Bible College where I was the Registrar. I love this pattern and it was such a joy to make for them.

This beautiful pattern reminds me of a butterfly. I am so proud of the young ladies at Native American Bible College. I was the Registrar when each of them walked through the door to begin their education and soon they will be graduating.

I have added a link to the tutorial that I used to make the shawl.

Jewel Colored Virus Shawl

Hi everyone, I will be visiting family soon and we have decided to stay on campus at the Bible College where I use to work. They have apartments and 2 room suites we can stay in so it is perfect. It is also where we stayed the week after we got married before moving me to PA.

I have been thinking of 3 of the dorm students that I was close to when I worked there as the Registrar (you meet a lot of students in that position) and I wanted to do something for them so I crocheted a shawl for each of them. Today I am posting the beautiful Jewel toned Virus Shawl with beautiful purple and jade. I will include a link to the video where I got the pattern.
