The Bible says in Ephesians 5:15-16 Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
What sucks up your time? I think the internet and television are the worst for me. When I am supposed to be having my Bible time, or completing an order for a client the internet will suck me in, and so will the television. I love movies and I love to read and especially during the chilly weather we’ve been having here in Pennsylvania popcorn and hot chocolate can be an obsession for me. But think about it, what goes well with popcorn and hot chocolate? A good movie! It is very easy for me to get pulled in because it takes time to pop the popcorn and heat the milk for the hot chocolate and before you know it, several hours have gone by and I’ve wasted my time.
I know the internet is helpful, and watching movies is entertaining, but Ephesians tells us to be “VERY careful how we live, not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.” I can get sidetracked because I think I have the entire day to do what I want, and sometimes that is true but am I wasting my time looking at cat videos online? A better thing to look up would be “How to love your husband deeper”, do you see what I mean? Do you see the difference? Cat videos are useless, but loving my husband deeper would do so much for my marriage. This is what it means to make wise choices and if you are still struggling with making wise decisions, as God for wisdom.
James 1:5 tells us If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
God will give you a generous portion of wisdom, that’s awesome!
