Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

Worship is not only an attitude, but it is action. To worship God is to focus on him and to respond to him.
Worship is important and sometimes when we go to church we are expecting to see our friends, and who are we sitting with today, or I got a new outfit, or I wonder what so-and-so is wearing today. We forget why we are really there; to worship God with other believers. We need to ask ourselves ~ Are we focused on God? When we go to church, we are going to be unified with others in the worshiping of God. Don’t forget your purpose.
Maybe we sing during the worship service and sometimes we get distracted. We look around and make sure our children are behaving, we forgot to write out our check for tithe, so we have to take that time to do that. I understand that things are going on at church, but Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a time for everything and when you are at church, it is time to worship your creator.
Make this a daily part of your life. Take time to worship God. If you only have 10 minutes for a Bible time in the morning, take 2 minutes to be quiet, and concentrate on God. If you don’t know what to do, start out by closing your eyes and meditate on him who died for you. Think of his love for you and he has prepared a place for you when this short life is over you will live for eternity with him.
On days you have more time, maybe you want to put on some soft instrumental music to help you in meditating, maybe you light a scented candle for a nice smell. Do whatever it takes to get your mind right to concentrate and meditate on God. Once you are in that state of mind lift your hands. Whether you are at home in your prayer closet or at church. Close your eyes and imagine you are the only one before God. If there is noise that you cannot get away from, focus on him and let the noise around you fade. Allow your hands to raise, concentrate on him and no one else. Allow the worship to happen. Give him praise, honor, and glory. This can come in many ways. Some people sing, some people in my culture dance (II Samuel 6:14 says David danced before the Lord with all his might)
When you are worshipping you are preoccupied with God and he is the center of your attention.
Will you make worship a priority today? Worship him.
