Bible for the Day #20

Psalm 28:7  The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

In this world, we will go through many things.  We will experience good and bad.  It is those experiences that make us who we are.  I look at this verse and there are many things I ask myself.

  • I cannot do things on my own, so where does my strength come from to get through these things?
  • What does it mean to be shielded?
  • What happens when I trust him?
  • What is my song to him today?

This verse does not say I will not go through tough times.  It does not say I will not experience grief, challenges, and struggle.  It does not say that God will take all my troubles away.  But it does say when I trust him he will help me.  There are things I am going through in my life right now, and you know what?  It might not be for me.  It may be that I will meet someone along this journey that needs God or needs some encouragement or many other things.  But then it could be for me, to show me how strong I can be because with God I can do anything.

Let’s look at  James 1:2-4   Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

It is hard considering my problems “joy”.  But having these problems also means that God is present in my life.  He is with me and knows what is going on.  Which makes me take a sigh of relief because again, “I can do all things through him.”
